Always playing.
Sometimes I wonder if there is something wrong with me: I am such a pointless romantic. I always am looking forward to that next big crush, that next rollercoaster to come and turn my life head over heels. It’s as if I am incapable of living on my own. Not because of any self esteem thing, but rather because I am unable to keep moving forward without being pulled.
I look around and most of my peers are looking ahead, getting jobs, making contacts, bettering themselves. They treat the social life with the mockingly joyful attitude that it deserves. They have fun, enjoy themselves, don’t get caught up it. Not me though. Oh no, far be it for me to actually be able to enjoy some experience without having to analyze it. Categorize it. Rank it, and try and figure out where it fits in my neat little life. I am sick of being preoccupied with what will come next. Who will come next. I am sick of never living in the moment. Never getting to go with the flow. I am sick of having to push myself, never having it come naturally, never having it come easy. Never having it come at all, unless I beat, beg, cajole and barter. Unless I force it, from myself and others, force the spontaneity of friendship.
Blessed are the forgetful; for they get the better even of their blunders.
But I can’t forget. And I can’t stop.
