P.S.

By the way, if anyone out there (meaning no one, since no one reads this) is in the Xanga crowd or you're just desperate for more info about me, go to my brand new shiny Xanga site! http://www.xanga.com/home.aspx?user=rockingmanatee
Yes, I've sold out. You'll see a lot of duplicated posts but in all reality I'll probably post there more often as some people will actually read this stuff there.

Random hate of the day

You know what pisses me off? How the moment any new "inventive" media style comes out, its immidiately copied to death. And I'm not talking about the obvious re-use of certain songs anything like that, though that does piss me off, this was kicked off by hearing that song from kill bill, you know the one I'm talking about, being used to promote some car. In just 2 days I've heard this song promoting two different products. Why do they have to ruin that song? Yes we know its cool, but goddamn it I can listen to it on my own. Find your own damn cool song. But anyway, no, the thing I'm talking about is the more subtle use of style in marketing and entertainment. Take music videos.

You know that Modest Mouse song "Float On" and the eclectic video style it used? Well no sooner than a week after that video came out, there were at least 3 videos from different bands that had the exact same style. A week later there were 3 more. I imagine the reason it happens is not so much that they are copying each other, though that certainly is the case in many instances, but instead I think its more a general lack of creativity. Having some experience in video production shit, I can just picture the guys at MTV getting a brand new shiny program for their pretty iMacs, that has a default setting that allows them to easily make this particular video style. Rather than utilizing this tool in an intelligent and subtle manner, they instead think: "You know what'd be really cool? Making a video completely by using this out of the box, available to everyone, requiring no mental effort default setting on this program!" And voila, a video that looks terribly creative untill you see just how little thought went in to it and everyone in the entire video music industry decided to do the same thing.

A few things I hate.

Everything is too bright, the sun beats down harshly, the wind cuts too deeply, the sound of the chalk on the board only hastens the degradation of my already fragile mind. The laughter of others, the smell of fresh coffee, the sound of the music that I will never share. The feeling of the sheets when I am tired, the sound of the fan droning away the silence, the hum of the room, or is it my mind, the sound of a thousand regrets, and countless possibilities unrealized. The taste of the water, the caress of the shower, the site of the dirty dishes infecting our sink. The feeling of the elevator, the long walk for the motivator, the silence of the educator, and the death of all appreciators.
